How many Hilary Swank movies can you name?
It’s not that easy is it, considering she’s a double Oscar winner.
For most actors who’ve bagged even one Academy Award it’s easy to list at least a handful of their films but besides Boys Don’t Cry and this one, the big movies starring Swank see her way down the cast list.
Considering she is the third youngest woman in history to win two Academy Awards for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role, this says to me that it’s only a matter of time before another big Hilary Swank film comes along.
In the meantime, I’m going to revisit this film tonight on Film4. So much more than just a boxing drama, it’s a tale about loneliness, hope and redemption and it’s harrowing viewing so you really need to be in the right mood. Besides Swank’s well-deserved Oscar win, this movie also bagged an additional three awards, for Best Film, for Clint Eastwood as director and Morgan Freeman as Best Supporting Actor. And on the subject of Freeman and his recent accident, have you heard about the curse of The Dark Knight?
